Open a picture
Hold down cursor on lasso tool = 3rd tool down on left
3 tools appear - normal lasso tool, polygonic lasso tool and magnetic lasso tool
Normal lasso tool - least frequently used
Like a hand drawn lasso tool - drag it around the object you want to use.
Rough selection - typically used to make a rough selection - hit delete when done to remove the shape.
Click on top left arrow to move the selection around
Best for rough selection in a picture not a detailed selection
Polygonal Lasso Tool
Click and hold down cursor on lasso tool - click on polygonal lassoo tool.
This allows you to click points around the object = a much finer selection of an object.
Magnetic Lassoo Tool
Select magnetic lassso tool - supports differences in colour - applicatio notices the border automatically - it sees the difference between 2 colours - don't even have to press mouse button
Edit - copy - open a new layer - make sure layer is highlighted blue on the left - edit paste
